It seems like a perfect match: young people who want to work for good causes and nonprofits that need future leaders. However, young people are finding numerous barriers to a successful nonprofit career including low pay, poor benefits, limited opportunities for advancement, and lack of connection with other young leaders. Nonprofits are robbed of the energy, creativity, and dedication of young people and young people are denied careers in social change.
To reduce these barriers OnlyUp researches and advocates for the needs of young nonprofit professionals.
OnlyUp.org was founded by five graduates of Haverford College with strong commitments to local activism. Collectively we have worked for over two dozen nonprofit organizations and social justice campaigns. Our vision was born of our frustrations as well as those of friends, relatives, and peers struggling to pursue careers and maintain their interest in working in the nonprofit sector. Our diverse strengths and passion for young leadership are the driving forces behind OnlyUp.
